This might seem like a crazy question.
Of course we want to transform. Who on earth simply wants to “get by”?
But transforming seems to imply a huge investment of energy. It also (obviously) requires change.
That might be uncomfortable, it might push us to the very edge of our comfort zones, and it might necessitate “new versions” of ourselves to step up to the plate.
I thought I could share a few stories to give you some food for thought today:
(1) A Four Weeks to Finished Member Who Is Making Amazing Progress
We had our first class of 4W2F last week, and it was, admittedly, a lot of information to process. The assignments are simple, and we provide tons of support, but we hit the ground running and ask our Finishers to trust us and trust the process.
One member posted later that night in the group, sharing what she had done to simply get moving. She works full time, cooks all the meals for her family, and has a lot going on as she balances her own needs with the household and her profession. She knew that it would be “easier” to put off the homework for the week, but she decided to just dive in and do what she could that same day.
Here’s a quote from her post:
I just want you all to know you make a difference in people’s lives teaching them this technique. I don’t know much about others, but you showed me a ray of light. I was a little overwhelmed after the call. It at first felt like too much information at one time. But I have decided I want to change. I finished my errands around 8:00pm, went to the Dollar Store and bought a calendar. Put the kids to sleep at 9:00. I decided to give at least 1 hour today. (1) I first printed this (the Command Central Diagram) to motivate me. I want this in front of my eyes to keep the concepts clear. (2) Then I added a few things on the Dollar Store calendar about the (support) calls. (3) I was able to watch 28 minutes of the (class) replay, and I made my own notes to have clarity on the concepts. Just wanted to share with everyone. If there is a will and the right resources and the right people to guide you, there is definitely a way you can make changes in life. I will always be grateful for this opportunity.
Then she posted photos of her calendar and her notes and the diagram she hung in her workspace. It brought us to tears–seeing how ready and willing she was to jump right in. I’m still inspired as I think of it!
(2) A Beautiful Room Transformation from a STEPper!
Our daughter Grace helps post testimonials to our social media accounts, and today she sent me this:
Beautiful, right?
And you obviously don’t need to answer this question publicly, but please take a moment to consider this:
Is there a physical space or a personal challenge that you don’t ever look at or talk about because it feels too overwhelming?
If so, what would it mean to you if THAT part of your life could be transformed?
That is what LearnDoBecome is all about…. The BECOMING. The relief. The peace of mind.
(3) My Personal “Calming” Transformation
If you listened to any of my podcasts from the end of last year and early this year, I shared a bit about the stress that was going on in my body because of some challenges/beliefs/etc. that I was learning to manage.
I knew I wanted this year to feel calm and happy, but for some reason, the way I thought it was going to happen didn’t feel super calming. 🙂
Right now, I AM feeling incredibly calm, and I’m feeling healthy and happy (no stress rashes!), but my calming transformation turned out to be less about accomplishing certain projects and more about rewiring my brain and bringing a deep sense of peace to my nervous system. I’ve been saying “no” to a lot of things–more than I had previously anticipated, and while the change has felt uncomfortable at times, I truly feel transformed. And now the funny thing is that I feel more excited about and capable to accomplish those bigger projects I’ve been outlining in my dream journals.
Closing Thoughts…
Sometimes as I’m working with people in my “in person life,” I can see that they truly want and need things to be different, but sometimes it’s just easier to get by–hoping that some day we’ll have more energy, time, money, etc.
But one final thought I’ll share that came from a podcast with Jon Gordon and Jon Acuff that I listened to this morning–about Jon Acuff’s new book, “All It Takes Is a Goal” (which I just bought!), was that in order to continue to grow and transform, I need to consistently be around people who are also focused on growing and transforming.
That’s why our community is so important to me, and that’s why this work inspires me so much. It’s your bravery and devotion and willingness to put that “comfort” away so you can create the life where you wake up excited and go to bed content.
The neat thing, too, is that as I look back at the dreams I recorded a year ago, they’re starting to become less “dreams” and more “reality.” It’s a funny feeling to look at what once felt impossible and see that it is now familiar and normal. From my perspective, that is God’s transforming power at work–a power way beyond my own that guides me each day and enables amazing things to happen.
So I’m just here to encourage you today–as the Chief Encouragement Officer at LearnDoBecome–to make the decision not to just get by, but to transform in the ways that make sense to you and that are in alignment with your values.
And we’re obviously here at LearnDoBecome to help along the way, and I’ll include links to our STEP and ARISE programs below. But however you move forward, and however quickly or slowly you embrace your own transformation, please know we’re cheering you on!

Hi there April & STEPper Family,
Happy Birthday Week Spencer!
I totally am working on the same thing on letting go of the “Yes” word this year. It seems like each time I get some understanding on how to do a project or getting a routine down, I have to make adjustments or start from square one again. I have always felt more than I should have and easily carried others short comings or emotions as my own. I have been working for about 2 years on keeping myself in check and understanding that it does nothing for the other person if I take on their hurts or life short comings. But I kept the excitement and joy that others have shared with me right on top. I love that feeling and besides what kind of comfort am I to my friends and loved ones if I continue to be a worry wort with them. That’s their journey in life and if my advise isn’t asked for then I’ll do my best to live by example.
The life challenges I am facing this year are dealing with a gamer son in law, a daughter that is suffering because she chose him to marry ; a handsome lil grandson we can’t go see unless the gamer daddy approves the visit and being my mom’s caregiver and she lives an hour and a half away. Etc….. The shining lights in all that is one day, my son in law would just adore us. Because I can follow rules.. lol and our lil grandson will not have such strong trust issues. My daughter will feel peace and stability. My mom and I will have a stronger relationship. So positive vibes and prayers are very much needed. Remember everyone is on their own journey. I believe our journey is our training ground today, in order to help others tomorrow.
~much love and peace to ya’ll all <3
