Do you ever wake up in the morning, and even though you have a full day ahead of you to do the things you need to do, it feels like there’s “not enough time”?
That was the story of my life for so many years.
And even now, some days I feel like all the things I want to do are just “too much,” considering the other responsibilities I have on my plate.
What I’m learning, however, mostly from YOU, this amazing LearnDoBecome community, is that we don’t need more time. We really just need a clear vision.
I want to share two awesome stories that popped up recently from our STEPpers:
This first one is from Clare:
”Might seem like a small win to some but a big win to me as it shows a shift in my thinking. Using my CBNAL (Context-Based Next Actions List) and seeing where I was (and it was part of one of my current projects) I saw I had a hospital appointment (as a healthy person on a clinical trial) this morning and realised that I could walk twenty minutes from the hospital and get to a shop and buy this hulking thing for our recycling (that they didn’t have in stock at our local Homebase) -which I’d measured up in our next door neighbours’ front patch outside of our houses. And I looked up the buses and found that I could get home on two buses without having to carry it for more than five minutes’ walk in total. It was heavy and bulky but I did it and now I can complete another current project once I’ve put it up! Thank you, team. This is really making a difference to our lives!”
This next one is from Susan:
”Desk Clean Out is Complete! Feeling peaceful now that my desk is cleared off! I finished it last Wednesday, so a little behind in reporting. I finished it in 6 days working 20-50 minutes per day. Notice under the table, the paper pile, box of papers, white trash bag of papers, black box, and pink purse are gone too! I even swept the floor! I’ve added to my after-work routine to spend 5 minutes putting stuff away so I can keep it clean. I’ve kept it clean since Wednesday, so that is an added win! Thank you for your encouragement and for allowing me to post here to keep myself accountable.”
I know we’re mostly friends “through the internet,” but I hope you each know how much your examples and your work means to me.
I am not naturally good at being calm and moving at a deliberate, careful pace. I have to work at it every single day–because the natural “April” wants to run super fast and get everything done as soon as possible, like I mentioned in the last podcast about working with our humanness.
But I’m learning that whenever I feel pressed for time, what I really need to do is step back and ask what’s going on with my vision.
Because the answer is usually so much simpler than I make it out to be in my mind.
This quote from Henry David Thoreau really touches my heart: “It’s not what you look at that matters. It’s what you see.”
I hope that each one of us can see our potential. I hope we’ll give ourselves and each other grace. There’s a lot happening in the world–now and always. There will always be catastrophes and natural disasters and people hurting people. But there will also be goodness, service, love, and mercy. And my hope is that we can be part of the good.
I hope that these stories from Clare and Susan have inspired you today! And I hope you can sit down and rest a bit more than usual today–and focus more on the vision and less on the tasks. I know it’s making a big difference for me.
Sending lots of love!!
April

Thank you for this podcast- it really resonated with me about not having enough time to complete everything, and feeling overwhelmed before even starting!
I will definitely try the idea of changing my mindset to a ‘vision’ one, rather than ‘task orientated’ and see how things go. It probably will take some time …😁, but I’m sure will be worth pursuing.
Thank you for all you put into everything April.

I got this email and this podcast just in time. April, your voice was so calming. I do sense a shift in you with more deliberate shalom in your voice.
I have been feeling overwhelmed and beaten up by life lately, in spite of all the wonderful blessings in my life. And listening to you talk about vision helped me see that it is my LACK of vision which has had me running around like a headless chicken. I could see that underneath it all, I have silently all but given up on my visions. And really need to calm down and recreate and embrace them, and give myself grace as well for lots of things, not least of which is losing my vision.
Looking forward to starting to give a darn again and engage in Arise and Step, which have made such a difference in my life more soon!
Love
Sabrina
