Today, I’m excited to share this guest podcast I recorded with my wonderful friend, Rachel! Rachel McMichael is a business strategist and coach who helps female entrepreneurs grow a thriving business by teaching them how to generate more leads, make more sales, and create a massive impact… without all the hustle.
In preparation for this interview, Rachel gathered some top questions busy entrepreneurs face. To listen to the full interview, just click “play” above! Here is a quick overview of the questions and topics we covered:
- General Organization: How do you keep everything organized, all in one place, so that when you’re working you can focus on work, but when you’re with the family you can focus on family? I share how I do this as a mother of four children, working side-by-side with Eric, using a calendar, a tiered projects list in Asana and a routines list.
- Shiny Object Syndrome (or staying focused): There are amazing opportunities all around us. It’s so easy to want to do all the things right now. I talk about the someday list–a place to put those new ideas, so that you don’t have to miss out on an opportunity, but you don’t have to act on it all at once.
- Too much to do and not enough time: What do you do when you feel like you don’t have enough time planned for certain tasks, and you end up needing to leave things half done? Breaking down a project into microbursts can be a powerful way to bookmark a project.
- How to do it all: How do you keep your home focused, tidy, and peaceful while still working hard and working well? Getting the family on board with decluttering and then getting good routines in place make a huge difference here. Another principle that has shaped our family is viewing home-care as a relationship-building opportunity.

I really enjoyed this podcast. Interested to know one can achieve a system within 15-20 hours!?
Taryn Wood says
Thank you, Anne! Our STEP (Steps to Everyday Productivity) Program includes about 3-4 hours of content, but takes about 15-20 hours to implement–including processing your stuff, making decisions on things, etc. We look forward to having you put it to the test! We’re thrilled to have you with us and we look forward to hearing your success stories.

Hi April. I love your work! I am currently going through the STEP program. My question is related to something you mentioned right at the end of this podcast, and that is the chores/routines with your kids. That is something I have had in place before but it needs a revamp at present. Do you have a podcast or somewhere that you share examples of your family’s routine etc? That would be super helpful. Thankyou.

Thank you, Andrea! We have a couple of podcasts that might be helpful to you.
This one involves the entire family in creating projects, routines, and calendar items.

And this one shares a segment from our “Run Solid Routines on Autopilot” resource. https://learndobecome.com/clean-laundry-and-a-stocked-fridge-our-familys-routines/
We hope this is helpful! Thanks for being with us!
